mthree is excited to welcome Imran Akhtar as Head of Academy. With over 20 years of experience across financial services, banking, and telecoms—along with valuable insights from the education and the public sectors—he brings a wealth of industry expertise. Imran will lead the global academy which equips professionals and businesses with the skills needed to succeed in the ever-evolving job market.
Imran began his career in telecommunications gaining experience in IT support and customer service. He then transitioned into financial technology working with trading applications and high-performance systems. This exposure led him to start a lengthy career in financial services starting as an Analyst progressing through AVP, VP and Executive Director. Since then, he has taken on advisory roles as a RegTech Consultant, Executive Leadership Coach, and a respected board member for a local Housing Association.
In his spare time, Imran co-founded a local youth club. He’s also shared his corporate experience with 4,000+ students across 24 schools. By passing on the secrets and skills he picked up along his working life, he helps the next generation navigate the corporate world with confidence and provides them with a strong foundation for success.
Imran has seen the impact of mthree’s Hire Train Deploy model first-hand. In a previous organisation, Imran and his team worked with mthree’s trained emerging talent, integrating them quickly to help deliver successful production releases. He witnessed how mthree’s programme accelerates careers, strengthens teams and provides character. This experience, along with his passion for helping people reach their full potential led him to join mthree to hyper-scale his impact.
"It took me five years to reach a point that mthree can help people achieve in just a few months" Imran shared. "If I had access to this level of support and training early in my career, I could have impacted more people, sooner. That’s what excites me about this role—empowering others to accelerate their own success."
As Head of Academy, Imran will lead a global team of instructors who deliver impactful training across the UK, Europe, US, Canada, India, Singapore, and Hong Kong. His leadership experience and technical expertise will be invaluable in equipping trainees with practical skills and confidence. Supported by curriculum designers, researchers, talent operations and training partners, our instructors stay at the forefront of technology trends, ensuring our offerings remain industry-relevant and sought after.
Imran is passionate about creating opportunities for those who might not otherwise access careers at top-tier companies. “Talent exists everywhere” he said. “mthree provides the skills, training and mentorship to ensure individuals from all backgrounds have a chance to succeed”.
