The recent, volatile job market has been tough for Gen Z job seekers. Over 50% surveyed took from 4 to 9 months to secure a role in tech and 18% took 10 months or longer.

Khadijah Pandor brings encouraging updates from research in the Diversity in Tech 2023 report published by mthree.

Khadijah highlighted that recruitment processes are often at fault for the difficult job market that Gen Z is currently facing. It is clear that companies have more work to do to strengthen their DE&I policies and ensure that talent from diverse backgrounds feel encouraged to pursue a career in tech.

She recommends that candidates brush up on their soft skills for entry-level roles: “Our research suggested that more than a quarter (26%) of businesses offering tech roles think candidates applying for entry-level positions lack soft skills."
