Now working as a Full-Stack Java Developer on-site at a Tier 1 investment bank, Akash reflected on his journey with mthree.

Participating in tight-deadline sprints where we had to systematically debug broken applications built my technical resilience and troubleshooting methodology. This hands-on exposure to software lifecycles under pressure transformed me from a university student into a corporate professional. Ultimately, learning to navigate complex codebases calmly made stepping onto the production floor feel familiar rather than paralysing.”

“My absolute favourite part of my role is owning the complete software development lifecycle, from gathering requirements to deploying production-ready code. I was given the space to deeply understand their distributed systems and enterprise architecture, which enabled me to transition into a trusted problem-solver.
Whether I am optimising database queries, writing unit tests, or handling live production support, managing these processes end-to-end is incredibly fulfilling. There is nothing quite as rewarding as seeing a feature I developed successfully merge into the main branch and streamline a user's daily workflow.”
> Overcoming Impostor Syndrome
Of course, the journey was not without its hurdles. When asked about the challenges he faces, Akash said, "Initially, stepping into a massive enterprise environment and navigating millions of lines of complex legacy code triggered a significant sense of imposter syndrome.
I was terrified of introducing regressions or breaking critical microservices during my early commits. The turning point was realising that even senior engineers rely heavily on code reviews, comprehensive documentation, and collaborative debugging.
Once I embraced pair programming and started treating code failures as essential learning metrics, the environment shifted from intimidating to deeply empowering.”

“The mthree training sessions provided a phenomenal technical foundation in Full Stack Java, but its true value was teaching me agile methodologies and scalable problem-solving.
Because my current role requires me to handle everything from backend API development to infrastructure deployment, I constantly rely on the analytical framework I built at the Academy.
The training taught me how to decompose massive, ambiguous system requirements into small, modular, and actionable technical tasks. Consequently, when I encounter unfamiliar enterprise tools or proprietary tech stacks today, I have the methodology to dissect and master them quickly.”

“In five years, I aim to transition into a Software Architect or technical leadership position where I can design highly available, large-scale distributed systems. While driving technical strategy and optimizing system performance is a major objective,
I am equally passionate about establishing strong engineering cultures. I want to actively mentor junior developers, bridging the gap between executing complex technical deliverables and fostering empathetic leadership. Ultimately, I want to ensure the next generation of engineers feels supported both in their technical upskilling and their career resilience.”
> Advice for Future Trainees
“Technical mastery takes time, so patience and self-belief are your most vital assets, especially during the lengthy recruitment and technical interview processes. During training, embrace the discomfort of feeling like you are drinking from a firehose, this is where your core algorithmic and architectural foundations are built.
Focus less on memorising syntax and more on understanding system design, debugging methodologies, and how to read documentation effectively.
Lean on your peers for code reviews, ask the "stupid" questions, and trust that the rigorous mthree process will fundamentally elevate your engineering career.”
